Biography:
Nunzio Abbate is SPG General Manager and Systems Lab Director ST’s Central LAB and has held this position since 2013.
Abbate started his professional career as Production Engineer with FIAT Auto.
He joined STMicroelectronics in 1999 and from 2001 act the role of Product Engineering Manager in the Microcontroller Division.
In 2004, Abbate moved to the IMS Systems Lab and Technical Marketing.
In the role of Automation, Robotics & Transportation Director, he led the development of turnkey system solutions for Industrial Automation and e-Mobility and coordinated the Company’s global programs on Hybrid Electric Vehicles.
Abbate has also provided significant contributions to the product definition and business growth of ST’s Power Modules, Application Specific Integrated Modules, and the iNEMO™ ecosystem of MEMS devices and applications.
Today have also the Business responsibility of Tolling, Smart Power and Connectivity modules.
Abbate holds several industrial patents in Europe and US and co-authored a number of scientific papers on Robotics, Industrial Automation and Human-Machine Interaction.
He serves as Chairman of the Manufacturing & Robotics Working Group at the European Platform on Smart Systems (EPoSS) and Italian delegate in the Micro Machine Forum.
Nunzio Abbate was born in Catania, Italy, in 1969, and graduated with a degree in Electronic Engineering from the University of Catania.
Abbate started his professional career as Production Engineer with FIAT Auto.
